Hi guys n gers.. Wanna share with you all what I do in project angel.. another cca of mine.. Project angel can be considered one of the YEP (youth expedition proj) which is done by NUS students with some facilatators that help us through the project.. Yup.. and our comm did a lot of fundraising events to raise funds for the cambodia kids.. we will embark on our journey to cambodia on 20may-10june (if i din rem wrongly.. lol).. to let u all noe more abt the proj,

Project Angel is an overseas community service project initiated by the NUS Students’

Science Club. This is our 10th expedition since its formation in year 2000. Project Angel X (PAX) will be visiting 2 villages in Siem Reap, Cambodia, with the primary focus of enhancing the learning environment of the Cambodian Children. The project will start from 20th May – 10th June 2008.

The aims of the project are as follow:

1. To raise funds for the children in Cambodia.

For Project Angel X, we hope to raise funds to aid us in buying building materials for village schools in Tapang and Kampong Phluk, as we will be building 1 classroom for each village, the first to replace an old classroom at Tapang and the second to introduce a new classroom for Grade 7 students (equivalent to Sec 1) at Kampong Phluk.

We also hope to equip the Cambodian children with hygiene knowledge and some basic vocabulary to create interest in the learning of English. Then, we would also want to paint hygiene practices murals on the walls of the new classroom to raise health awareness. Finally, we also hope to set up a computer training centre in Siem Reap to equip the Cambodian children with IT skills, and our primary target will be the street kids, orphans and needy children, so that they can have more opportunities in the job market.

2. To learn more about the culture and living environment of our counterparts in Cambodia, and in the process, learn to appreciate our country more.

3. To create social awareness of our project and the situation in Cambodia.

4. Encourage volunteerism among youths of today.

In order to meet our raising funds target, we are now selling t-shirts (dri-fit) each at $12 each.. the shirt is designed by one of our comm members.. =)

The shirts are of sizes XS, S, M, L, XL. If u are interested and to show us support, mayb u can drop mi a comment with the shirt size u wan. Den I can pass it to u =) New year is cuming and ang baos are rolling in rite.. can spend a small part of it to help the kids in cambodia? We will really appreciate your help… All HCAs members are v kind hearted de.. I oways believe that.. LOL.. No obligations la.. haha.. its all up to u…

The next fundraising programme coming up is adopt-a-brick scheme… Its a bookmark actually and cost $2 each..

All proceeds is used to build the 2 classrooms.. we will be putting up the names of those who adopt 5 bricks or more on the “Wall of Appreciation”in the new classrooms that are built… if we each adopt a brick mayb we can hav HCA put on the mural =) You can drop mi a comment too if u r interested to adopt-a/many-brick.. =p

Another occasion cuming up in feb besides CNY will be…. *rolling drums*……. VDay!! haha.. we will be setting up a booth during Vday bazaar (12-14feb) to sell mrs field cookies and ben n jerry ice cream… yum yum.. do drop by sci fac if u hav the time.. =)

I find myself so long-winded suddenly.. lol.. but seriously, a little help frm u will improve the learning environment for the kids.. we r lucky to be able to live in such gd environment where MOE plans for us and help to build the schools.. whereas, the rural area kids are unable to get gd education and living conditions.. ur kind act will bring them hope, love, care n knowledge..
