What’s this site all about?
A 1-stop centre for all NUS-Community Service Club Hospice Care Association (NUS-CSC HCA) volunteers to receive news on visits/outings/administrative matters.

Beyond that, we hope that ALL members will help to make this site thrive, be it through posting of candid shots (NO photos of patients unless their permission is obtained please!), descriptions of amusing incidents, or plain ol’ sharing of your experiences with the rest! After all, when there are concurrent home visits, no one can be at more than one location at a time, eh?

On a less serious note, we just simply wish to foster deeper bonds and friendships within HCA, yepz!

How may I participate actively in the HCA community?
Drop by on a regular basis for one thing! Better still, blog! Post your witty (or lame ) comments in other peoples’ accounts; just remember to be nice hor!

How do I post an entry?
1) Register as a WordPress member (click the SignUp link at
WordPress.com) first.

2) Email Melvin (ddrfanatic@hotmail.com) or Marcus (lee_jin_fu@hotmail.com) or our gmail account (nuscschca@gmail.com) to let us know the EMAIL ADD you used in signing up; we’ll grant you editing rights asap!

P.S. Sending your request to Melvin/Marcus would be a faster route

3) Login under the “meta” section of the HCA main page, and start creating your post

4) Some tips: To hide some portion of your post on the HCA home page (and not clog it up with download-intensive graphics), notice that there’s a row of tools right above the typing space as you are creating your post. Click on the 4th icon from the right (consists of two white rectangles); this inserts a horizontal line, which effectively keeps whatever is below it hidden from view on the HCA blog main page.

Another tip: click on the first icon from the right (which looks like a palette) to unleash ANOTHER row of tools! Experiment with the different functions and all yeah

How do I edit my entry?
Log in to your WordPress account, go to the HCA blog, find your entry, select it, and click “edit” at the top of the window

How do I upload photos?

3 Methods:

1) Upload to Picasa. This is the most preferred as we can easily download entire albums off the place with one click. The login and password are under the “For Members Only” page.

2) Upload directly to WordPress (we have 3GB of space!). But try to reserve this only for pictures which aren’t for outings and stuff.

2) Upload to Flickr. The login and password are under the “For Members Only” page.

How to insert photos into a post?

In your post editing window, click the “tree” icon (i.e. the 13th one on the first row of your post editing tools), and paste the URL you copied in step 3 under “image URL”. Finally, click “insert”, and you should see the image appear!
